A cat with a ‘fuck off’ written on its face

 It’s a rare and good quality for a dry white wine to be really satisfying. It’s easy for a fragrant sweet wine to be pleasant, but actually hard to achieve for a serious dry white wine. 

But I never really liked sweet wines.

That’s why the grechetto from this natural winery in Marsciano is a nice discovery for me, because it is dry, serious and satisfying.

We went to the winery on the way back from a show-cooking we did in Villa Bucher, and we thought ‘ since we are already here in Marsciano, let’s visit some wineries’. So we went to this place. the winemaker- the son of the family was not there, only the mother and the cat. The mother doesn’t like natural wines, in spite of the fact that her son is only making natural wines.  The cat didn’t run away as other cats when I approached, but stay still and looked right into my eyes with a ‘fuck off’ written on its face. 

We bought 6 different wines from that winery and tested them in the following week. 

The rosaro bubble is drinkable but not very particular, 

while the white bubble is pleasant and interesting, it tastes like craft beer and it looks like craft beer, a good APA to be accurate, With prominent greenish pineapple and citrus flavour. 

The Syrah has a velvet chewy taste and nice black berry fragrance without being too sweetish. 

The sangiovese is very tannic with dark colour, but still balanced,I will mistake it as a montefalco rosso in a blind tasting.

The umbria bianco is a typical natural wine with strong wood apple and bitter almond taste in it,herby fragrant and tart, somehow tasting like a cider. 

And the grechetto I mentioned before is our favourite, we will definitely repurchase it. 

By the way, and find it very pleasant to mix vin santo(a kind of Italian sweet wine made from semi dried grapes) with a small portion of orange wine, which gives extra freshness and sharpness to the sweet wine.
