Excellent Meat, but…
We were in Bevagna and we wanted meat, and in Bevagna there is the Osteria Tagliavento, the restaurant of the famous butchery Tagliavento. We were also attracted by the popular prices (3 €/hg of Costata). So we ordered a Costata for 2 which was said to be 1kg. 2 starters (a beef tartare), a salumi/cheese board, 3 side dishes (potatoes, grilled vegetables, and cooked vegetables), and 2 desserts (millefoglie and cresenza).
Quantity, it was too much. We packed half of the cutting board stuff and half of the costata.
Quality, good to excellent. The Tartar was OK, but I have eaten better (3 points), the cutting board was good, but without remarkables (4), so were the side dishes. The costata was of unbeatable quality. Aged well, served “al sangue”, tender, juicy and full of flavour, 5 points without hesitation.
We had two desserts and they were both ok.
But then we had an unpleasant surprise. Asking for the bill, only a number was given: 115. Whereas 115 € could be considered a possible bill for what we had eaten, it did not correspond to the prices on the menu.
Antipasti: 17, Contorni: 12, Desserts: 10, Wine: 18. This sums up to 57. To arrive at 115, the costata should have been more than 2 kg. It was big, but……. The receipt unfortunately did not give further information.
