Buonrespiro History | SPA | Garden |

The Buonrespiro 37 is an old farmhouse with some stones on their place for centuries. It’s inhabitants were poor. The humans were living on the upper floor. Downstairs were the animal stables. When we bought it in 2014, it was a ruin and in the process to collaps completely.

It was a crazy decision to rebuild the house, it would have been reasonable to tear it down and to construct something new. But emotions were stronger than reasons. So we embarked in an adventure that ended only in Summer 2018, with a new house on the old place with apparently the old walls.

But also the walls had to be internally rebuild. Guiding restructuring-principle was: Where something old is functional, it stays. If it has to be removed it will be substituted with something modern.

The house has been rebuild following Italian reconstruction rules (landscape conformity, earthquake resistent, energy efficience (class A). It is equipped with a solar plant of 11 kwp. Heating is with a cutting edge system under the floor and with two modern wood burning devices, conform to non pollution regulations, Temperature is kept cool in summer and warm in winter through efficient wall insulation.
